#1 SOUTH SUDAN

Girls in South Sudan are least likely to go to school. A young girl in South Sudan is 3 times more likely to die in pregnancy or childbirth than to complete her primary education.

There is a huge gender gap in Central African Republic with the male literacy rate being double the female literacy rate.

Child marriage is a big problem for Niger, with 75 percent of girls being married by the time they reach 18. Young motherhood also prevents girls from going to school.

In Afghanistan, there are approximately 3.5 million children out of school, with 85% of them being girls. The percentage of literate adolescent girls compared to boys is also much lower; 37% compared to 66%.
